About the event
Every story happens somewhere. What makes that somewhere feel alive?
A World Takes Shape: Foundations of Fantasy Worldbuilding guides you through creating the landscapes, ecosystems, histories, and everyday rhythms of an imagined world. In this course you’ll explore how land, climate, resources, and living things connect, and how the people who inhabit your world shape it in return.
Through guided questions and creative exercises, you’ll map regions, imagine plants and creatures, establish calendars and turning points in history, and begin exploring cultural traditions, spiritual beliefs, and celebrations. Along the way, you’ll consider how magic or other extraordinary forces might change the world’s foundations.
Whether you’re starting with a single idea or developing an existing setting, you’ll leave with a world atlas and a connected foundation to build upon, with room for mysteries, discoveries, and stories still to come.
